Cuzzin Bella

This here is Bella, my cuzzin. Well actually, her hooman is my mum’s cuzzin so I guess if my calqulayshuns are correct that would makes her my second cuzzin…but really, who’s counting. I’ve never really met her cuz mum is way too lazy busy fur a playdate and Bella lives clear across da state. Mum says it takes a whole 30 minutes to get to hers house and that is a much very long trip fur da Puddles to stay still.

Furst let me gives you some background information on her…not mum, Bella. Bella was founded by mum’s cuzzin down on a marina dock. Hey, I wonders if Frankie or Capt’n Ripley knows her. Anyway, hers was founded…ummm, where was I? Oh yes, cuzzin found her and took her in his heart and home because he is a sucker good Samaritan and yada, yada, yada. And you guessed it, her IS part pibble, which leads me to da point of this post.
You see, mum went to helps our Mimi and Papa with a yard sale of an uncle. I know, I thought da very same thing but they wasn’t really selling da yard. I was most disappointed too, I thoughts we were going to get us a new/used yard. Anyway, on with my story. Mum’s cuzzin showed up to da yard sale (see, he thought da same thing) with beautiful Bella and course mum can sniff doggies out and hers had to go retrieve her from him. Mum brought da traitor sweet doggie up where da “customers” was shopping and her wasn’t awares of too much (what’s new)while hers was playing and chit chatting with Bella, you know kinda minding her own business fur a change.—until da question rolled in.
This is what mum said went down. Da furst hooman man asked, as he stood 10 ft away “ Is that a pitt bull?” (Duh, I say) Mum’s response, “Why yes it is, isn’t she beautiful?” as Bella cleary knew no bounds whatsoever by kissing MY mum. I’m assuming that question could very well, possibly, almost be appropriate. Howevers, da next hooman man that coincidently overheard mums response, asked,” Will it bite?” This one kinda fluffed mums furs and afters her did that eye rolling bit that hers does so well and often…she replied politely, “ Her name is Bella and no she will not bite. She is a very mannerly and obedient girl “. (NOTE: there is no crime in asking someone if there dog will bite…it was the fact that da man overheard Bella is a pibble). Oh and by da way, I don't exactly know what mannerly and obedient mean either. Now mum was very much apawed and flabergasted at the remarks cuz hers has never evers experienced breed discrimination in her whole 36 years 25 years of living. It really shocked mum. Bella just sat theres smiling, oblivious to da lame questions of da hoomans. Lucky fur her cuz I gots da feeling it would haves really hurt her feelings.

So anyway mum came home and explained da situation at hand and we was completely dumfounded. We has never heard of this discrimination thingie. Now if I hads been there I woulds have cold cocked explained to da hooman that it’s not polite to judge before you meet a doggie. Nows in my opinion, which is da gospel…it’s all da hoomans fault to begins with. Of course, it’s always da hoomans fault

Oh and justs in case you didn’t know…doxies did experience a time of breed discrimination a very long, long time ago. We was even stoned in da streets, according to some sources.

The breed became very popular in the early 1900s, and in 1913 and 1914, they were among the 10 most popular entries in the Westminster Kennel Club Show. During World War I, however, the breed fell on hard times in the U.S. and England because they were closely associated with Germany. Dachshund owners sometimes were called traitors and their dogs stoned.
Dog Time

Now even though we three doxies were purchased fur a gazillion million green papers from a breeder... our hearts go out to all of you fur rescuing any breed whether it was a pibble, a greyhound, a sharp ay, a doxie, a husky, or even a designer dog. Thank you fur making a difference in their life because we know they have made a difference in yours.
I now am going to close this post with a poem mum found to include in Whitney’s book. Mum made da books through this place. Mum did lots of research on photobooking and decided this was da bestest place fur what she wanted. You can even turn your blog into a book.

Rescue Me
Rescue me not only with your hands but with your heart as well.
I will respond to you.
Rescue me not out of pity but out of love.
I will love you back.
Rescue me not with self-righteousness but with compassion.
I will learn what you teach.
Rescue me not because of my past but because of my future.
I will relax and enjoy.
Rescue me not simply to save me but to give me a new life.
I will appreciate your gift.
Rescue me not only with a firm hand but with tolerance and patience.
I will please you.
Rescue me not only because of who I am but who I'm to become.
I will grow and mature.
Rescue me not to revere yourself to others but because you want me.
I will never let you down.
Rescue me not with a hidden agenda but with a desire to teach me to trust.
I will be loyal and true.
Rescue me not to be chained or to fight but to be your companion.
I will stand by your side.
Rescue me not to replace one you've lost but to soothe your spirit.
I will cherish you.
Rescue me not to be your pet but to be your friend.
I will give you unconditional love.

Hi P. A. & W. (which says PAW, by the way)
I think this is a most excellent and important post. Not all dawgs are good... BUTT not all Dawgs are BAD either. It is all in how they are treated.

Woooos! Mum knows all about dog discrimination too, and it is very sad. We have a pit puppy in doggie school right now that Mom says is the sweetest puppy she has met in a long time. Her owner is afraid of how other humans will react to her, so luckily fur the puppy she has started training at a young age. Hopefully educating the masses will help, but I fear, where there is fear, there can be hate. We are firm believers in a well trained human!

Puddles - this was a Most Excellent postie and that poem was very much truthful. Your Cuzzin really is Bella (mom says that means beautiful. She knows that cuz she thought about naming ME Bella!). That's so sad that some peoples judge other peoples and doggies on what they look like and not what they are. I'm glad your mom helped educate them and maybe next time they won't be so skeered.

Luckily nobuddy ever judges me on how I look. Just on my sparkling personality! (Note from mom - unfortunately that's not true. But thankfully Mayzie doesn't know that.)

Mayzie

PeeS. Thanks for that Most Excellent tip on how to walk my dad. I'll gives it a try next time!

I was about to do a breed discrimination post myself. With racism still present, what did we expect? I say humans need to evolve faster!
I've been looking for the free photoshop actions I downloaded and finally I found the www. It's http://www.gettotallyrad.com/#photoshop-actions-for-rockin-digital-photography-7a1d9 See if you find something you like. Meanwhile, we can keep praising each other's photos

It seems the people who are afraid of pibbles have never spent much time with them. I too used to be afraid of them before I learned what they are like - and now they have become my favorite breed of dog once I got to really know them! (But I've never had a daschund - and Puddles you remind me of my pibble Noelle!) It's great that your mom took the time to help teach people that pibbles aren't scary. If enough people meet enough nice pibbles then maybe the people will stop being scared of them.

FIRST OF ALL, your cuzz is a mighty beawoootiful girl!

Our momma has experienced breed discrimination. Not with us, but her sister has a blue pitt, names Nia and when we are out with her people act the same way. Flat out IGNORANT.

Momma always yells PUNISH THE DEED NOT THE BREED! Unfortunatly, there are a lot of stupid people in the world. We just try to change one persons scewed thoughts at a time.

Great post, Puddles. Pitts have taken a bad rap - it isn't the breed, it is the owner and the breeder, not the pup. Your words say it all so well - thanks, pal.

Hi Puddles - my Mom says to tell you to come visit anytime! She also says to tell you that she grew up in Anderson, and that one time she went out with a boy from Easley High School, but that she is still trying to forget it.

She says I cannot say go Green Wave, because she was a Hanna Yellow Jacket.

i'm sorry miss bella got the hairy eyeball from those hooman goobers. it's not fair at all that they thought bella was scary just cuz she is a pittie. :(

We have a cousin who is a "pibble", too! Well, actually, she's part that and part who-knows-what. But, she looks like a "pibble" and that's what people think she is. We don't care much for her, but it's got nothing to do with her breed... she's just too pushy for us! Mom loves her though. She says she's a sweetie and we should be nicer to her. Our Mom gets upset over breed discrimination, too. She says it's "just not right."

Miss Bella seems to be a very simipatico pup. I think it's excellent that lots of kinds of dogs are posting about this when it comes up. Pitties seem to me to be quite lovely dogs most of the time. When they're not, it's mostly that they've had a bad upbringing and that can be true of anyone. The pitties I've met have been lovely and sweet.
