To answer your question about our story, the dog was probably a Celtic Hound. Celtic Hounds were the ancestors of Irish Wolfhounds, Scottish Deerhounds and Greyhounds. We've always read the story as one that involves a Greyhound, but that's coming from Greyhound sources. The truth is, the dog that existed then is probably a lot different from the dogs that exist now!
