A Shocking DEE-LEMON-UH

Dear Furiends, I know it is suppose to be Wordless Wednesday but I  haves a DEE-LEMON-UH and can't be wordless today, And haves ya'll evers known ME to really be wordless anyway? Didn't thiink so.You see, I’m kinda ummmm…vocal…ok, I’m very vocal. I just really can’t helps myself. I haves tons to say. I likes talk to da neighbors, da UPS man, da mailman, da 400 doggies that walks on MY sidewalk. I also likes talk when I’m playing, eating, when da moon comes out, when da sun rises, I’ve even been known to talk while I’m peeing, and even when I’m pooping (as long as I don’t haves to concentrate too much). Heck, I even talk to myself too which is really fun…hehehehe! Oh and by dog, you should hear me when I sing. It is quite mezmerizing...especially when it's acapella.

Woof...Woof...Woof

Oh...Uh...Ummm...Hi theres Mum.

I thinks I haves a rather luverly voice, it's not at all high pitched likes you would imagine of a doggie my size eithers. But fur some reason my pawrents aren't too fond of my beautiful voice and calls it a ...are ya'll ready fur this...a NUISANCE. Yea, they skeered they gonna get fined or sumptin.
So here is my problem, mum and dad are researching (gasp) shock collars fur me. You know da kind that shocks da furs off of ya. I can’t believes these kinds of devices are even legal (note: call congress). And here is what it looks like....

Oh wait, that's da wrong pikture but you get da idea.

Anyway, if anybuddy has any ideas on how to sell my pawrents talk my pawrents out of this cruelty let me know and feel welcome to sign my petition too. Where is Twinkletoes when you need her? Oh and by da way, I loves these thingies................. yea, da dots............................................they fun.

THE END of my life as I know it.

Peace Out,
Puddles

Oh no! Shock collars? Yikes! Are you pulling our tails? We love to talk to... all the time. Like you said, even when we're eating or going potty and especially to the neighbors! :) Hope you're kidding us! Our Mom thinks shock collars and electric fences are bad and make her sad. We're pretty glad about that, though cause it means we won't get 'em! :) Good luck to you!

Puddles having being owned by a Doxie it is my humble opinion that talking/attitude comes as natural as breathing. Couple that with being a lady Doxie you are doomed to be a talker. You know what they say if you want the right answer to a question talk to yourself.

Mom had to lol at this post though the other night when she talked to my human sister (who has a Parrot and a cat) all she could hear was squawking and meowing. And I Madi must confess to being a talker too.
Mom and Dad tell me that their first kitty rarely meowed...my reply is well guess what I'm not him I'm Me Madi

Oh no, no, no! Tell your mom and dad to take you to obedience class, but not the shock collar! Those are dangerous! I've heard that if you learn to "speak" on command, you can then learn to be quiet, too.

I'm sending you a train ticket! Poodles, you get into the darnedest pickles!

Wow... I can talk and potty too. It is a true skill set!!
NO NO NO NO that is what I say about the shock collar thingy.
We live in America... and we have the Freedom to Talk rule in that place where our Pepsodent Bark O'momma lives in that white house.
Tell your mom to look it all up. It is your Right to talk!! I'm not kiddin' either. It is one of my mom's favoritest Rules!!!

Quick! Hop the train and becomes a hobo - or would that be ho-dog? Wait, that didn't sounds quite right.

Has your mom thought about squirting you with water everytime you talks? Now that would make ME stop talking lickety split. I hates the water.

If all else fails, you can come stay in my condo. There's room enough for 2 and we'll stay up all night talking! I know my mom and dad would just LUVS that!

Oh Puddles - we just typed our reply and hit submit and it said error!
We think it was number 623!!!!
Anyways we said that we don't like the sound of shock collars and you should only use these on your humans as a last resort.
Try giving them treats to stop them annoying the neighbours.
Love the pics!!!

Ok. I am coming out with this. Ginger has work the dreaded shock collar because she too is a Big Talker. She and Puddles would have quite a spirited debate in my opinion...However before any of you call me any HBO Words, now she can wear it and it is NOT TURNED ON.

Anchorage has a anti-barking law and if your doggie is deemed too talkative, shall we say, you can be fined or worse, the doggie will be relocated to Bad Places.... we have a doggie door out of which the 3 little ones can access our securely fenced yard so it is necessary. I do not want to have to deal with fallout from her barking while I am away at work or something.

Thanks Puddles Mom for your comment. I took many of those pix last year with my Point & Shoot Canon. xoxoxo

Tell momma that talking is good and not a nuisance... you don't see shock collars on David Letterman or Jay Leno... she'll be worried if you don't talk, know what I mean.

Oh No - not a zapping collar! I'm quite the talker myself. I call it being a watchdog. I bark at the wind, at funny sounds, at my reflection, at my toys, at strangers in my yard, you get the idea. Maybe your Momma can look at a citronella collar instead - I hear it sprays you when you bark and helps keep the mosquitos away - so it's like 2 in one, BOL.

NO SHOCK COLLARS! Enough said!

Hi Puddles
We are very talkative too. Penny has a very high pitched bark and it it very irritating.
Mom tells her to stop & gives her the time out hug. This usually works.
If you are considering a barking collar, we would go with the collar that sprays citronella, not the shock collar.http://www.multivet.net/en/dog-training-collar.htm

Oh no...not a shock collar? No no no. I have known some people that had them for their dogs and they say they are fine but they don't look fine to me. Of course the people don't have them around their necks either. Come and stay with me and talk to me!! Lots of love, Holly and mom

Puddles, Mack here. I like to talk too, in fact one time a neighbor complained about me, but woo know what. We are dogs. dogs bark. So my mum wrote the nice lady a letter explaining this phenomenon and she also cited the noise ordinence in our city which states that from 7am and 10pm I can bark as much as I want too! So tell your mom shock collars not needed.

We went that route with ours because when we got Lucky he thought out cats where snacks. The made sure that we worked with a trainer that was trained on using these types of collars. We have them for all 3 dogs. The collars that we have are very similar to muscle stim that you would received at a chiropractor or PT. These collars ensured all our pets were safe and like others have said now we can put them on and not even turn them on.

We had a doxie foster brother Aug of 2009...We know how talkativie the little doxies can be.....Yea dots are fun...anyhoo...BOL

There are other ways than shocking the furs off. You can try a e-collar that vibrates instead of shocking. We have seen cesar use them and they are most humane. You could also have your momma do tricks to make you focus on something else....

Oh NOESSSS!!! Not the dreaded shock collar?!!! Moms and Dad stopped our singing with a squirt bottle of water mixed with a tiny bit of white vinegar. Now when we get loud they just show it to us, and we shut right up!!

I have to agree that I really don't like shock collars or electric fences. We actually know a family that had there electric fence up to high for the size of the dog and the it was burning little holes into the doggies neck. Very sad! Also if doggy parents don't remember to change the batteries in the electric fence collars there little doggies become very lost or in an accident with a car.

Did you really say you talk to da neighbors, Puddles????? Say it isn't so - you really need to be careful:)

We aren't barkers so we don't really have any good advice for you, but we don't like the sound of bark collars. OUr human sister had a yakkety yak beagle once and they had a behaviorist come in. Well, he had other issues too:( But they had a tin can with nails or coins in it that they would shake very sharply and just once to startle him when he barked. If he stopped immediately, he got a treat. It did seem to work a bit but it takes a lot of work to turn off the mouth. We are sure others may have some good suggestions for you.

Oh dear! Not being a talker at all I haven't come up against this problem, but there must be another way. I must say that it's quite unfair, too. The dogs in my neighborhood seem to bark a lot. No one seems to get all bent out of shape about it. Also the noise that comes from weedwhackers, lawnmowers and power tools is a lot worse than barkies. Even the birds get loud and very early in the morning too. Who's going to fine them?

I guess you have to start practicing saying, "Don't taze me, Mom!" when she comes near you with that collar.

Ummmm.....Puddles, are you the first doxie your mom has ever had? Doesn't she know we come with a 'tude? Sheesh! What do we have to do to get these humans to understand? I am a vocal girl too. Not just with barking either....I like to moan when I am gettin comfy and whine when I want something to eat.

PS: I knew you had lots of BFF's but I had a moment of insecurity. Thanks for reassuring me!

Hiya Puddles - oh, Max is kinda vocal too, he claims he's just expressing a 'joie de vive'!! JD is soooo laid back he hardly ever woofs - when he does we really know something is up!

Anyhoo = because Max usually starts to bark when things move real quick and he gets freaked out he now has a 'squirt' collar! It is woof-activated and squirts him in the nose with water and citronella when he starts to bark. It 'snaps him out of it' much quicker than the humans can react so has been a huge help.

Max LOVES his bling and he now associates wearing it with being calm. He usually wears it when children are around - they really freka him out when they move fast so it calms FH and MH down knowing that he's got it on. Him having it has meant he's had the opportunity to get used to children and discover that he quite likes them really as they fuss him and feed him biscuits! So we would definately recommend a squirt collar!

Twinkletoes to the rescue!!! BOL That was sooo cute :) I'm also very glad I didn't miss it. So, here's what I have to suggest. BOL on the chair by the way too. I don't have a lovely voice like you. I'm really high pitched and I break stuff, so, mom ordered the PetZoom sonic pet trainer. We don't know much about it yet, 'cause as you know, mom is too busy these days, but we'll start using it asap, now that we are aware of your situation. We'll either email you directly or post and let you know that we posted about it. Meanwhile, google it to get an idea. It's also not expensive. I sure hope this works for both of our sakes!
