Hows to Burrow by Puddles

I likes to burrow.
Da Blobs don't burrow cuz they is weird.
Does ya'll burrow?
Has you evers wanted to do it and just didn't knows how?
Wells I is heres to help furiends.

Today I will demonstrate hows to burrow.
It is most important to do it properly using my precise tekneeks.

Fur todays demosnstration I chose a snowman blankie cuz I knows how much
Frankie just LOVES snowpeoples...hehehehe.
(yes, yes I cracks myself up)
But ya'll can choose whatevers blankie you want

Okays is ya'll readies to learn?
Heres we go.
(interesting how a $3000 camera can still manage to gets me out of focus, I suppose foto lady shouldn't be sittin' on da floor though)

Furst....
Gets da blankie on your head...and then you shimmy shimmy shimmy down.
Dependin' on how long you is will determine how many shimmies you has to do.
It takes me bouts 3 shimmies.

Once in da blankie...you turn about.
 Like dis.
Once in dis position, turn at least 15 times to gets situated.

 Aaaaand voila...you all done!
Nows, aaaaaall nice and burrowed and toasty warm.
Dat was easy peasy wasn't it?
Who cares if it's 75 degrees.

Disclaimer: not responsible or liable in any way for accidents, getting lost or tangled in blankie, or falling off couch from my demostration.
Note: yes my couch has mysteriously turned plaid. Some days it's white.

What a great demo Puddles! You sure gots the brains in the family. Muffin and I burrow too and love it. At our house, the hoomans better not sit down on any blankie before checking to see who's in it!

Lily Belle

Nicely done. I prefer the digging method. I like to dig in my bed (or on the new couch) until I leave marks and get it all fluffed up just so.

Is your couch magic or did I have one too many beers?

Your pal, Pip

Thank you so much for the great tutorial Puddles! It seems as though I have doing it all wrong!

Love you new plaid couch! Very cute!!!

P.S: I am hereby in the market for a new assistant in case you know anyone looking for a new job. She only let me post once this week - what up with that???

Unknown said...

Ok first of all I think you may have way toooo much time on your hands if this is what its come too. The real question is how do you hold a beer and burrow at the same time? WTH!!!

I guess it was laundry day at your house cause I know your mommy has a white couch - which im very proud of her being so brave to have a whote couch with dogs! Hig Five!!

Stop by ,Ive posted about the bob doxies like 2 days in a row, spreading the love on hound girl.

OH MY EYES MY EYES... How could you use a blankie with THOSE on it fur your lesson?

Well, other than the fact that I have my furs all in a bunch after the Snowman torture.... I gotta say that THIS was an A+ Burrowing Lesson.
OK... now tell us... is that REALLY a Couch or is it a Cameleon?

Declan said...

Pudds mate, I'm a bit disappointed. You being a short-ar*e greyhound should understand. Burrowing is a whole different thing when your front leggys are over 20" long. Hehe! Deccy x

Is this how to borrow or how to hide? Because I'd never know you were there in that last pic! You're sneaky.

ShellePenn said...

And the way you do it, makes you perfectly hidden... I like your tutorial better than any of those DIY tutorials you see all the time... unless it's about treats, then theirs is better... or home brewing, that be pretty cool, too... but too much work... I mean 10 minute walk, less if I take the lawn tractor, I can get all the Bud Light I want... why work to make beer??

Got off subject there... good work, Puddly-Duddly-Doo, now grab a cold one to celebrate... (guess I was on subject after all)

**applause**

Excellent demonstration. Very informatives, and nice technique on da Shimmy. Your final 'product' is a signature doxin burrow-mound.......tightly curled, with no body parts hanging out! Well done!

Unknown said...

My momma says ALL of her short-hairs doxins have been burrowers (and her has had about 87 doxins, so her has lots of experience with our habits). Gotta sleep all covered ups. A true doxin trait!

Funny thing is that us wire hairs DON'T burrow. We prefer the blanket 'nest' technique, and sleep uncovered.

*gasp* does this mean I am not true doxin?!?!

Millie and Walter said...

I sure hope your peeps check to make sure you aren't under any mounds before they sit down. That seems a bit dangerous to me. I would hate to see a post of "how to squish a Puddle". I'm just sayin'.

Very nice. Is it okay for humans to do? I think I'll try it.

I do not burrow, yet. Maybe when I move to NH? Hehe, Billy always di, Mom says.

You may have forgotten but we lives with a kitteh. If he sees something movin' underneath a blankie he's gonna attack it. We aren't crazy enough to try that!

PeeS. How does you see anything if you're all covered up???

Bassetmomma said...

Hmmm...I hope there isn't a lack of oxygen to the brain in that snowy bundle? Just sayin'..... LOL!

Puddles with all the DIY stuff you is doing Cinnamon wants to know if you found extra beer money under the cushions? We is gonna try that over here too.
Happy Weekend.

((applause)) Wonderful demo!

GOOSE said...

Ok let me get this straight: put blanket on your head, shimmy, turn about, then spin until you are fully enclosed like a Caterpillar in a cocoon. Is that right? How does one get out? Does the MOM grab a corner and pull sending the Goose spinning like a top?
Oh, and I may need to borrow some duck or duct tape. I have now discovered there are TWO more cats besides Allred here at Bert's.
Blessings,
Goose

Puddles you do's dat so good! Mom gives me a blankie wit holes so me don't make more holes in her good blankies. Ever tried to shimmy in a blankie wit holes? Furst da head gets caught and den da feeties get stucked and befores you nose it, you pass out from strangulation! Can me have your blankie?

:o)

MOL MOL MOL Puddles...3 shimmies has ruined mom's make up again. She went out for breakfast before she read the bloggies so it is ok if she has black streaks running down her face. Dad probably won't notice.

On top of being a burrowing expert you could add music to the burrowing and create your own dance sensation.
Hugs from your BFFF,

Thanks for the info on the burrowing. I hate all things blankies so I won't be burrowing anywhere but I'll pass on your tips to some of my short-hair-single-coated friends.

Puddles, OMD thank you for that very important informational session. I am going immediately to my couch with my favorite blanket(from my sweet Remington) and get busy. I hope I get it as I am staying in cause its Friday the 13th and that is a great way to stay safe. You are a true pal, but are you concerned at all about the changing color couch thing?? That would freak me out just a little.

Puddles! Have you been giving Gracie private lessons on how to burrow beneath the bed covers at night? I was wondering - first of all, where she learned it from and secondly - why she insisted I pick up beer and cheetos when I went out the other night (she said something about making good on an outstanding debt)... hmmm

♥♥ The OP Pack ♥♥ said...

We don't think we know how to do that, Puddles. We might not fit under there very well. But we think it would be great if your could demonstrate your skill in a video.

Love ya lots,

Our Mom grew up w/ a Doxie, Brunie, who slept with her for 15 years...she would burrow under the covers, turn around and then put her sweet head on the pillow!!!
You always bring back sweet Doxie memories!

We're not burrowing dogs, but if we ever get a hankering to do it, we now know how. Great demo!

Awesome demo! You should start doing demos for other things...like the Oxyclean stuff...or the Magic Bullet! Or foodables--ooooh, even better!

Chloe likes to be covered up by the humans...she doesn't mess around with any of this burrowing stuff! :)

Interesting technique. We are diggers, like Mr. Pip. We just dig into the beds, comforters, sofas, and even the rugs to get them fluffed up just right. Then we do the turns to get situated. Guess the difference is we don't like to be covered up; we like to be on top of the covers. Still, a great tutorial. You should start one of those online learning thingies on You Tube, like that Khan guy that started putting math online for one of his relatives and it's grown into a big business. You could do Digging Holes, Excavating the Laundry, Flashy Beast Evasion, and lots of other useful topics.

That is some excellent burrowing techniques you demonstrated, but I'm a little scared for you on that morphing couch! Does it change colors depending on mood like a chameleon?

I am more of a nester, but I like to sleep under the covers when I can. Here's my trick. I stand and stare at Dad. Then I stare some more. Then I scratch at the blanket with my paw. Finally, Dad lifts up the blanket and I curl up just where I want to be, then he covers me up. An hour later I get hot under there and Mom uncovers my head so I can breathe!

P.S. If the camera is defective and not focusing properly, you can send it here. Mom can't focus anyway!
